From the Present:

Everything leads to everything else. I think everything in life is steeped in meaning simply because the largest actions in life can lead to nothing of significance while the smallest macrocosm can set in motion life or world altering events. My journal entry below reminds me that everything is about timing. I saw the movie “That Thing You Do” at the right time and decided I wanted to start a band. With only a feeble grasp on music, this was a silly childish dream. But just because something is absurd in the present, doesn’t mean it can’t lead to something worthwhile in the future, this future that I am still finding.

July, 26 1998 – Age 13

Today I got up and went to Mass. After this I went to a for in Mackinaw City then I went to a *????*. After that every one but dad and Teresa went swimming in Lake Michigan. Today I saw the movie “That Thing You Do.” I know this sounds strange, and if Aaron read this he would laugh, but I want to start a band with some friends.
