From the Present: 

Surely, I thought girls were hot before this, but this is the first time I wrote about it. I remember that on this family vacation to Mackinac Island, Michigan I walked around the town with the goal of making eye contact with girls. I didn’t really know what to do next . . . but there I was, falling off the cliff of puberty, seeing girls as a member of the opposite sex and vaguely grasping the significance of what that meant.

From the Past: 

July 26, 1998 – Age 13

Today is my first night on the island. Today I went swimming, buggy riding and saw lots of hott girls in town. Right now I am thinking up some songs.
