From the Present:

I’ve heard it said to kids and young people from older people: “Your too young to know anything about love.” I see it differently. To every “old person” who has said that to a young person, I think you’re too old to remember what it’s like to be in love. Love in it’s purest, most innocent is a child’s love. Today’s blast from the past is about my first childhood crush. When I was eight years old, I was “in love” with Jessica. A girl who would swing with me on the tire swing at school. Back then love was not mixed up with adult complications like sex and dating and drinking and cheating—it was pure and simple. It was love, and it was AWESOME.

From the Past:

April 21st, 1994 — Age 8

Today is Thursday. I went to school and played with Jessica of course. She’s my best friend in the whole world. I like her even more than Hobbes (a stuffed tiger that went everywhere with me). She brought me home from school today (well, her mom did).

And Aaron (my older brother) is in big, and I mean big trouble today.
